FIM GRAND PRIX OF REGIONE EMILIA ROMAGNA

MONDIALI F1H2O E MONDIALI OSY 400
Grandi festeggiamenti per i colori azzurri oggi a San Nazzaro d’Ongina, in provincia di Piacenza, dove si è appena concluso il “20° Grand Prix Motonautico del Po”, organizzato dall’AMD San Nazzaro e valido quale Campionato Mondiale della Osy/400 e quale 2^ e 3^ tappa del Campionato Mondiale F1 – “FIM F1H2O Grand Prix of EMILIA ROMAGNA” e “FIM F1H2O Grand Prix of ITALY”.
Il Campionato Mondiale della Osy/400, si è disputato in tappa unica ed è stato dunque valido per l’assegnazione del Titolo 2022. Quattro le manches di gara, affrontate dai piloti tra ieri e oggi, con la possibilità di scartarne una a livello di punteggio.
Sui 18 partecipanti provenienti da sette differenti nazioni, il terzo posto del podio è finito nettamente nelle mani dell’azzurro Luca Finotti, il pilota monticellese dell’AD Motonautica San Nazzaro che gareggia dal 2016 e che è il campione italiano in carica di questa categoria (Foto in apertura: Podio CM Osy/400 – San Nazzaro 25/9/2022 – ph Laura Bettinardi).
Una bella prestazione per il talentuoso driver di origine cremonese che è stato il migliore tra gli azzurri, aggiudicandosi la medaglia di bronzo iridata; a vincere il Mondiale 2022 della Osy/400 è stato però il driver polacco Jakub Rochowiak; argento al suo connazionale Cezary Strumnik.
A San Nazzaro, si sono concluse questo fine settimana anche le due tappe previste per il Mondiale di F1, che hanno visto in acqua quindici piloti in rappresentanza di 9 nazioni. La gara di ieri ha registrato la vittoria del leader della classifica provvisoria del Mondiale, lo statunitense Shaun Torrente, che corre con i colori degli Emirati Arabi Uniti. Torrente si è imposto sullo svedese Jonas Andersson e sul finlandese Alec Weckstrom (rispettivamente2° e 3° classificati).
Nel corso di questa prima Gara, ci sono stati due ribaltamenti, avvenuti tuttavia in momenti diversi: quello dello scafo di Alberto Comparato, veneto dell’AMD San Nazzaro, e quello dello scafo della norvegese Marit Stromoy; i piloti, prontamente soccorsi, non hanno riportato conseguenze fisiche.
A vincere nella 2^ Gara, è stato invece l’olandese Ferdinand Zandbergen. Secondo e terzo gradino del podio per i due piloti dell’Abu Dhabi Tea, l’emiratino Thani Al Qemzi e Shaun Torrente.
Ottimo 5° posto per il veneto Alberto Comparato, che ha chiuso alle spalle dello svedese Jonas Andersson.

TORRENTE WINS A EVENTFUL F1H2O - FIM GRAND PRIX OF REGIONE EMILIA ROMAGNA
Saturday, 24 September, San Nazzaro (Italy): Abu Dhabi’s Shaun Torrente delivered the ultimate performance to take his eleventh career win with a sensational victory at the F1H2O  FIM- Grand Prix of Regione Emilia Romagna, round 2 of the UIM F1H2O World Championship.
Torrente held the advantage of starting from P1 and led the race from start to finish.
Defending Champion Jonas Andersson was second with a gap of 8.97 with Gillman Racing’s Alec Weckstrom coming home third.
It was a pulsating race from start-to-finish surviving two yellow flag incidents and restarts.
The first when Norway’s Marit Stromoy crashed at lap sixteen after a collision with Sharjah Team’s Sami Selio, who was running in second position behind Torrente, while he was overlapping her.
Stromoy had been taken to hospital for a medical check while the finnish driver was forced to retire from the race for a big damage at his boat and they are working to repair it for tomorrow.
The second yellow flag when Italy’s Alberto Comparato and France’s from China Team Philippe Chiappe collided and both of them has to stop the race on lap 25  Comparato was the one who suffered the bigger damage at the boat.
Torrente’s Teammate Thani Al Qemzi who was third at the chequered flag was penalized with one lap for not mantaining the lane at the start and therefore moved to sixth place leaving the third step of the podium to Weckstrom with France Peter Morin and Ferdinand Zandbergen closing the race in fourth and fifth spot.
Team Sweden’s driver Kalle Vippo finished in seventh with Stromoy’s teammate Poland’s Bartek Marszalek in eight and Cedric Deguisne from team Maverick ninth to close the list of the drivers who completed the race.
Maverick Team’s Alexandre Bourgeot failed to start because of engine’s problem while F1 Atlantic’s Duarte Benavente withdrew from the race at lap 12.

ZANDBERGEN WINS HIS FIRST F1H2O GRAND PRIX
Sunday, September 25th,San Nazzaro (Italy):  The  27 years "rookie driver” from Sharjah Team,  Dutch Ferdinand Zandbergen wins his first Grand Prix Title of F1H2O in the FIM – Grand Prix of Italy.
The Team Abu Dhabi duo completed the podium with a second place for the last year’s winner Thani Al Qemzi with the 2 times world Champion Shaun Torrente finishing third.
Zandbergen held the advantage of starting from pole and was the undisputaded leader of the race leading from start to finish and surviving to one yellow flag when the boat of Kalle Vippo stopped suddenly in the middle of the race course. He made no mistakes at the restart and  held out to take the chequered flag and eventually win by 8.82.
Defending Champion Jonas Andersson after a very good start was unable to keep the position for many laps but recovered positions in the last laps to finish fourth only 2 seconds by Torrente.
Fifth place for the italian Alberto Comparato who mantained the position of the Pole with Cedric Deguisne making up 3 places to complete the top six.
Alexandre Bourgeot completed a good day for Maverick Team with a seventh place ahead of France’s Philippe Chiappe who having been third for several laps behind Al Qemzi lost grounds for technical reasons.
Sweden Team’s Kalle Vippo ,who ended the race at lap 28, finished ninth ahead of  Gillman Racing’s Alec Weckstrom and Stromoy Racing’s Bartek Marszalek both haven’t finished either the race.
Last place in today’s race for Peter Morin who was eight in qualifying but was moved last in the starting grid for changing the boat but was able to run only 8 laps.
After crashiing out this morning in Q2 Sharjah Team’s Sami Selio did not started as his boat had serious damages.
It was the second crash of the weekend for Sami Selio who yesterday, in the FIM Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna, collided with Norway’s Marit Stromoy who neither took part to the race today.
It was a disappointing weekend for the driver of Atlantic Team Duarte Benavente who didn’t finish the race yesterday, the FIM Grand Prix of Regione Emilia Romagna and he did not even start both Qualifiyng and Race today due to engine problems to his boat.
With three races to go Shaun Torrente leads the championship standings on 52 points from his Al Qemzi  on 35 and defending Champion Jonas Andersson to third on 31, with Zandebergen now the closest challenger in fourth on 27 points.
